Brian Carlin

Brian CarlinAfter serving with the Royal Marines, Brian did his MBA at Anglia Polytechnic University before moving into the private Health and Fitness sector. Having worked as a contract manager, Brian then became the Deputy Chief Executive of Aspire with responsibility for managing the new Aspire National Training Centre.

In 2001, Brian was appointed to Chief Executive of Aspire where he has combined his experience in the Fitness Sector and his business pedigree to lead the charity through a period of massive expansion.

Brian is also a part-time lecturer in Post Graduate Business and maintains his interest in personal fitness as a keen cyclist and triathlete.

 

Peter Stanford

Peter StanfordPeter Stanford is an award-winning writer and broadcaster.  His books have included biographies of Lord Longford and the poet C Day-Lewis.  He has produced and presented TV series including The Devil: A Biography, The Mission and Catholics and Sex.  He writes for various national newspapers.  

This is Peter's second spell as chair of Aspire, beginning in 2005, having also served from 1991 until 2001. He grew up with a mother who was a wheelchair user (because of MS) and first got involved with Aspire after accompanying a group of recent ex-patients of the London Spinal Unit on a trip to Rome in 1988.  He is married with two children and lives in London.
