Aspire is delighted to announce that we have been successful in a funding application to the John Lyon’s Charity to support our Sports Development work.
Following a successful Multi Sports 4 All pilot programme in February this year, Aspire applied for funding to increase sporting participation for 600 disabled schoolchildren within schools in Harrow, Barnet and Brent. The John Lyon’s Charity will fund the Multi Sports 4 All project for three years. During that time the Aspire coaches will deliver inclusive sports sessions in a number of schools across the three London boroughs. The project will also educate the teaching staff in these schools on how to adapt sports sessions for disabled children so that they can provide inclusive sports sessions in their own schools.
Where possible, schools and students will visit the Aspire National Training Centre and participate further in the range of activities that we can provide, such as wheelchair basketball.
The project will also identify gifted and talented individuals and offer them pathways into local clubs, regional and national competition.
