Billy Swims it for Aspire
With the Aspire Channel Swim once again breaking all records it is no surprise that our Fundraiser of the Month for January is a swimmer. The only difficult decision was which one of our fantastic swimmers to choose? After much head scratching, Billy Colthart emerged as the winner.
Billy is 11 and took part in the Aspire Channel Swim for the first time in 2008. He took on the challenge because his friend Ross Haines had signed up and he wanted to ‘have a go’ as well. Have a go he most certainly did! Billy is a regular squad swimmer and amazingly completed the 22 miles of the challenge in just one week, although even Billy admits he had to do a little extra swimming. Not surprisingly he found the challenge tiring.
Billy took his fundraising as seriously as he takes his swimming and raised an incredible £1,351 thanks to the generosity of his sponsors and his own hard work. So did Billy enjoy the Challenge?
I liked all of it, it was great.
