JC gets the Summer Cycle off to a great start

John Charles Lawrence, better known as ‘JC’ to all his friends, is a familiar face to everyone at the Aspire National Training Centre. Always there to lend a hand, JC works as a volunteer at least two days a week at the Centre. To many of the customers, he is perhaps best known for his regular book sales and raffles in reception, although in June JC surpassed even his own high standards.

In the lead up to the Aspire Summer Cycle, JC sold raffle tickets to customers keen to win the first prize of a brand new all terrain bike. In under two weeks, thanks to his hard work and the amazing generosity of those who bought tickets, he made over a thousand pounds for Aspire.

I've been volunteering at Aspire since I did my work experience here eight years ago. I really enjoy meeting all the staff and customers and when I can help raise money for the charity too it's even better!

In only its second year the Aspire Summer Cycle, which will take place on Sunday 20th July, aims to raise over £10,000 for Aspire and its work with people with spinal cord injuries. JC’s tremendous efforts with the raffle have ensured that we are well on the way to hitting that target before the pedals have even started turning.
