Ten Years of the Aspire Channel Swim
With nearly 8,000 people participating in this year’s Aspire Channel Swim there is no shortage of amazing fundraisers. However, one young lady who we feel deserves special mention is 12 year old Florence Dicken from Ipswich.
Florence completed the swim in 2008 but wanted to do something extra to mark the 10th anniversary of the Aspire swim, which is why she chose to do the swim, not once, but 10 times. Florence would fit her swimming around home schooling but faced a problem when moving to high school. The school kindly granted special dispensation for Florence to complete her swim during the day and her tutor was there to watch her final few lengths.
Florence has raised £400 and been awarded a Blue Peter badge for her tremendous efforts and we feel the title of Aspire Fundraiser of the Month is a further accolade she richly deserves.
Although the Aspire Channel Swim 2009 will finish on Sunday 6th December you can keep swimming to support our work by participating in one of our outdoor swimming events next August. E-mail Rosie for further information.
