The Real Channel Swim

Once called the "Everest of swimming", swimming the Channel is still one of the most challenging and sought after events in the world. Twice the number of people have climbed Everest than have successfully swum the Channel. Making Aspire's Real Channel Swim, something really very special.

In 2010 we have three boats, with two relay teams and one solo swimmer crossing the English Channel to raise money for Aspire. In 2011 we have five boats and are looking for people to take part.

How does it work?

  • The distance is 22 miles but with tides and currents you will swim more
  • Relay teams will swim at least 1 hour on rotation
  • Official CS and PF pilots
  • Swims will take place between July and September

If you thought previous challenges were tough, think again, swimming the Channel will probably be the hardest thing you will ever attempt. But, the rewards are just fantastic. Aspire will support you from sign up throughout your training, to the moment you pop your toe in the water. The team camaraderie as you prepare for your crossing is second to none and nothing quite beats that feeling of finally arriving in France.

If you are looking for the challenge of a lifetime and would like to know more, just get in touch. The start of a great adventure could just be a couple of clicks away.

“I applied to join the Aspire Channel relay team last year and nearly 6 months later I don't regret it for one minute. I have met like-minded people from around the country and I know we will be friends for a long time, as sharing something as exciting and huge as swimming the Channel will keep us together for a lifetime.” Kay from Portsmouth
