The Aspire Channel Swim 2011 has reached the halfway point! This year, over 4,000 swimmers are taking on this challenge to raise money for Aspire. The challenge consists of swimming the distance of the Channel (22 miles) in 12 weeks in your local pool.
There are a number of swimmers who have already 'reached France' and have decided to swim back to Dover, dodging ferries along the way.
So far the Aspire Channel Swim has raised £83,432, however we are hoping to raise over £400,000 by the end of the challenge on 4th December. The money we raise will go towards providing practical solutions, such as giving money to purchase a lightweight wheelchair, to people who have been paralysed by a spinal cord injury.
Our swimmers have done a fantastic job in raising awareness of spinal cord injury, and the work of Aspire, by featuring in their local newspapers.
It is not too late to enter, so why not take on this amazing challenge today and join swimmers like Gail Briggs (pictured)?
