Thursday 1st December Aspire is delighted with the reversal of plans to remove the mobility component of DLA for people in residential care, which was announced today. Read more about the announcement from the Minister for Disabled People, Maria Miller MP.

Tuesday 8th November Aspire welcomes the recommendations in the Low Review which have been published following a twelve-week consultation period looking into how disabled people who live in residential care meet their mobility need s. Read more on this story here.
Monday 31st October Aspire’s third Assistive Technology Conference took place in Mansfield last week. Aspire volunteers and NHS Occupational Therapists from Spinal Centres across the UK and Ireland, along with representatives from other organisations, came along to find out about the latest technologies and how they can be used by those with spinal cord injuries. Monday 24th October The Aspire Channel Swim 2011 has reached the halfway point! This year, over 4,000 swimmers are taking on this challenge to raise money for Aspire. Read more about the challenge here.

Monday 17th October This weekend, viewers of ITV drama Downton Abbey will have been devastated to see one of the main characters, Matthew, return from war with a spinal cord injury after being wounded in an explosion.
Wednesday 12th October On Friday 7thOctober, a team of six cyclists from Coca Cola Enterprises set off from their Head Office in Uxbridge to cycle 201.2 miles to one of their bottling plants in Wakefield to raise money for Aspire .
