Aspire's Independent Living Team
We now have a new team of Independent Living Advisors covering 9 Spinal Centres in England and Wales. This team will build new links between the Spinal Centres and Aspire but are mainly there to help recently injured patients.
The Team come from wide and diverse backgrounds and have a pool of knowledge that we are building on with a comprehensive training programme.
Independent Living Advisors will visit their Spinal Injury Centre weekly to give practical support to patients, providing accurate information and 'signposting' patients and their families to the best services and information for their needs.
They provide a listening ear and practical advice on how to manage key areas, such as accessible housing, continuing care, benefits and equipment provision. We will also direct them to other organisations or services that can help with their specific needs.
The Advisors will also be able to refer patients to our Housing Manager, Human Needs Fund and Campaigns Manager.
