Aspire Chosen for the 2012 Olympics
The Aspire National Training Centre has been chosen by the London Olympic Committee as a pre-games training camp for the 2012 Olympics. We’re obviously delighted with the decision, which is a great reward for the hard work and vision that saw the Centre become the first fully integrated training centre in Europe.

Paralympic athletes will be able to use the facilities for boccia, paralympic volleyball, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby, as well as making use of our fully accessible gym and the ramped-access swimming pool. Various teams and our members already make use of the fantastic facilities here and we’re delighted that competitors from other countries will be able to benefit too.
Tasha Dyson, Aspire’s General Manager, hopes that it won’t just be international athletes that gain from the Olympics:
This is a fantastic opportunity for the Aspire National Training Centre and we are proud to be hosting a pre-games training facility for the London 2012 Olympics. Hopefully, this will raise the profile of both Aspire, and the work we do here, which will demonstrate how successful accessible sports and leisure facilities can be. We will continue to use our expertise to help other Centres meet the needs of their disabled members.
