Aspire and Guinness Trust Cement Partnership
September 2007
Aspire and The Guinness Trust recently signed a partnership agreement for the supply and adaptation of up to 16 properties for our Supported Housing programme. The development extends over 13 key 'areas of need' that reflect the densely populated areas of England and the spread of Spinal Injury Centres across the country.
Nathan Farrugia, Head of Services for Aspire, is extremely enthusiastic about this venture. "It will allow us to meet the needs of hundreds of people awaiting discharge from Spinal Injury Centres or stuck in nursing homes whilst they wait for their permanent housing to be sourced and adapted."
Raj Upadhyaya, Business Development Director for The Guinness Trust, also remarked that "It is the aim of The Guinness Trust to link with key partners in the community in order to address the housing needs of disabled people. We are proud to support this worthwhile charity with our adapted properties."
The success of this partnership is still dependent on the local authorities and their willingness to support people with spinal injuries. Aspire funds many of the adaptations and specialist equipment and requires up to £15,000 for each property to be suitably equipped.
