Celebrities join the 2008 Channel Swim

Dermot O’Leary has pledged his support to the 2008 Aspire Channel Swim and, with our new Swim Website up and running, it couldn’t be easier for you to join him.

The 2007 Aspire Channel Swim raised a fantastic £345,493. But we’re determined that 2008 will prove to be even better and have enlisted the help of some celebrity friends, including Dermot, Laurence Dallaglio and Sharron Davies, to take us to our £420,000 target.

Taking part involves swimming the distance of the English Channel – 22 miles – in your local pool over a twelve week period. You can even sign up as part of a team. So whether you’re an experienced club swimmer, or haven’t been near a pool for years, we’d love to welcome you to the Challenge.

Rosie Cotton, Aspire’s Channel Swim Coordinator, can’t wait for the Swim to get underway:

“There’s always a buzz in the office when the Channel Swim is on – it’s great to hear the swimmers’ stories and we’ve had everyone from pre-school children to a 93 year old taking part. And, of course, the money raised goes a long way to helping Aspire take more people from injury to independence.”
