Independent Living Advisors Training
Aspire's Independent Living Advisors recently got together for a two day training session in Birmingham. It was a chance for the team to both learn some new skills and discuss improvements to the way they work.

On day one, the seven-strong team focused their efforts on overcoming some of the barriers they are facing in their day to day work. It was a real opportunity to learn from the experiences of each other, finding out what works well in one Centre that perhaps hasn't been tried at others. Day two saw a shift to looking, with the help of a counselling psychologist, at how to improve the interaction with patients.
Alex Rankin, Aspire's Head of Services, was impressed with the outcomes of the course:
"Aspire's Independent Living Advisors already do a great job in Spinal Injury Centres across the UK, and hundreds of patients have benefitted from working with them. But there's always room to learn something new, and it was great to see the Advisors helping each other through their own experiences of doing the job. The Independent Living Service is going from strength to strength and training sessions like this are key to ensuring that we're offering the best service possible."
