Accessible Computing for all Patients

Aspire's IT facilities in Spinal Injuries Centres around the UK have proved to be a fantastic success. We're delighted that we've been able to build on this success by providing laptops with wireless internet connections in seven of the Centres. Together with our new mobile workstations, this means that every patient, including those on bed rest, has independent computer access.

The mobile workstations are fully adjustable to meet the needs of users who are lying in different positions. And the laptops can be secured to them so there is no need for them ever to be locked away, meaning that they are always available to the patients. Our computers come with assistive technology meaning that anyone, regardless of the level of their injury, can use them.

Having access to a computer is vital for patients who may find themselves undergoing many months of rehabilitation. Whether it's for keeping in touch with friends and family, using internet banking or surfing the internet, computers really do make a difference and provide the independence that most people take for granted.

Our Assistive Technology upgrade has been kindly funded by the Ian Karten Trust.
