New House in South Wales
The Aspire Housing Programme has started the New Year as we mean to go on; last week we opened our first new house of 2010 in Hirwaun, South Wales.

Thomas, our first tenant, welcomed Aspire staff to his new home, along with representatives from Cynon Tâf Community Housing Group, staff from Rookwood Hospital, Aspire volunteers and local MP Ann Clwyd who formally opened the property. Cynon Tâf have kindly worked with Aspire to provide this property, and the result is a fantastic, fully accessible bungalow that means Thomas, and all our future tenants, will be able to get on with their lives whilst sorting out a permanent place to live.
For Thomas, and his family, the Aspire House has been just what they needed:
"We're going through the process of getting our house adapted so that I can get in with my wheelchair. Until that's done, though, I've got no way of living there and I don't know where I'd have ended up if Aspire hadn't come along. This place is just perfect for me and I can use every part of it."
The Aspire Housing Programme makes a real difference to the lives of people like Thomas, who would otherwise have to make do with something totally unsuitable. We'll be working hard throughout the year to provide more houses so that we can be there for more people.
