Good Luck to all our Friends at the Paralympics

The Aspire National Training Centre has a great reputation for its fantastic accessible facilities. We've been chosen as a pre-Games training venue for London 2012 but, with the Beijing Games kicking off this weekend, we're delighted that some of those representing Great Britain already use Aspire.

While we'll be cheering on everyone at the Games, we're especially looking forward to watching Tom Aggar and Naomi Riches in the rowing and the wheelchair rugby and basketball teams - here's hoping that when we next see them at Aspire, they're here as medal winners.

****Update****

9th September - Tom stormed through this morning's heats to book his place in Thursday's final, setting a new world record in the process. Naomi and her crew, though, had to settle for second place and will now race in the repechage in their bid to reach the final.

11th September - Gold for Tom in the rowing. A fantastic performance and totally deserved. And Naomi and her crew took bronze as well so everyone here at Aspire is delighted. Meanwhile, the basketball teams are through to the quarter finals and the wheelchair rugby starts tomorrow so there's still plenty to look forward to.

12th September - A great start to the campaign for the Wheelchair Rugby team; facing defending champions, New Zealand, Great Britain took the victory 39 - 38. There was not such good news from the Basketball court, though, with the women's team losing 45 - 38 to Japan at the quarter finals stage.

16th September - The men's basketball team rounded off a great campaign by beating the USA in the bronze medal match - well done to them all. The Wheelchair Rugby team also faced a bronze medal match, against Canada, but just fell short to finish fourth overall. We know they'll be disappointed, but here at Aspire we're proud of their achievement and look forward to seeing them back here in their training sessions soon.

With the Games finishing tomorrow, Aspire is gearing up for the official handover ceremony which will see London take over as hosts in readiness for 2012.
