Cycling to Switzerland
On Sunday 24th May, a team of intrepid cyclists set out from London heading for Morzine in the French Alps. Led by Will Hemsley, the Ride 2 Recovery team cycled the 600+ miles to raise funds for Aspire along with two other charities. They were also riding to raise awareness of knife crime as Oli, Will’s brother, and the motivation for the ride, was left paralysed following an unprovoked attack last August.

Most of the 25 strong team are more at home on the rugby field than in the saddle which makes their six day journey, crossing two mountain ranges, even more amazing. Ably supported by a back up crew that included a rather over-worked physio the team arrived safely and without too many mishaps on the way. You can read more about their adventure at the Ride 2 Recovery blog.
Will led the riders over the finish line in Morzine saying the final ride up into the town was “the perfect end to a perfect week and all the riders could not have wished for a more pleasant run up. We arrived in Morzine and opened the champagne.”
If cycling to the Alps was not tough enough, the team set themselves a massive fundraising target of £75,000. They are currently just a few hundred pounds short, although with the determination shown so far are sure to reach that target in the near future.
