This year's Aspire Channel Swim takes place from 12th September to 5th December.  Whether you’re looking for a new challenge to lose some weight, want to participate in a sport whilst helping others, or you’re recovering from an illness and need an activity to ease you back into exercise, then join the 6,000 other people who’ll be taking part in this year’s Aspire Channel Swim.

You’ll swim the equivalent of the entire 22 mile stretch of the English Channel – but you complete the distance over a 12 week period in your local leisure centre pool.

Katy Boyd, Events Manager for Aspire says: “Every eight hours someone is paralysed by a spinal cord injury, it can happen to anyone at any time and there is currently no cure, so we have a lot of people who need support.  Everyone who swims the Channel are amazing and we are so thankful for all their effort.

“It’s free to enter and all funds raised will go towards helping people paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury, through Grants for purchasing equipment such as lightweight wheelchairs, Assistive Technology to enable people to use computers regardless of the level of their injury, as well as essential advice and accessible housing.”

£454,000 was raised from the Aspire Channel Swim in 2015, which has since provided grants and equipment for men and women in the UK who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury.  The unique Channel Swim fundraising event takes place between 12th September and 5th December 2016 where participants take part in their local swimming pool in their own time.
