In November 2015 Aspire launched its Christmas Campaign to raise money for Aspire Grants, which provides funding for essential equipment to enable spinal cord injured people to regain their independence.

The appeal raised almost £7,500, which enabled Aspire Grants to take five people off its waiting list.  12 year old Callum was awarded £1,800 to part-fund an electric hand bike attachment for his manual wheelchair which would enable him to get around independently.

Callum says, "I love my new bike, it's awesome!  I can now go out by myself or with my friends without someone pushing me or being worried that I'll get stuck.  I went to play with my friends the other day and no one had to take me.  I've never been able to go anywhere by myself and I'm loving it, thank you."

Callum’s mother Gayle says, “The look on Callum’s face is priceless and the freedom it gives him is just amazing. He has already been out with his friends and loved not having to ask for a push.  None of this would have been possible without the support of Aspire and all the fundraisers, so a huge heartfelt thank you from Callum and the rest of his family."
