Sports Quiz Dinner raises money for Aspire

Aspire’s fantastic Sports Quiz Dinner hit Manchester last week for a night of great food, taxing questions and general all round fun at the Lowry Hotel. And, of course, it was all in aid of a great cause, with the money raised coming to Aspire.

The evening was hosted by Mark Poutgatch of Talk Sport fame, and he led the 18 teams of local business folk through the various rounds of interactive sports-related questions, the teams using the special handsets to record their answers throughout the evening. Golfer Andrew Murray and Cricketer and Talk Sport presenter Chris Cowdrey were also there to join in the fun. It was a close fought evening, with the team from Muse Developments finally triumphing to take the title.

When not desperately trying to remember who scored in the 1977 Cup Final, everyone enjoyed the sumptuous three course dinner and a fully flowing supply of wine. There was also a talk from Andy Walker, a young man who has benefitted from Aspire’s Services since an accident left him with a Spinal Cord Injury – he reminded everyone there why the Charity is so important in helping take people from injury to independence.

With the auctions, the raffle and the all round generosity of the teams from Manchester, Aspire is delighted to reveal that the dinner made an amazing £17,000. That money will be put to good use in our work with people with spinal cord injuries and we would like to thank all those who came along to the evening.

With similar dinners held in London and Glasgow every year, along with golf and cricket days, there's plenty of opportunities for your company to get involved. If you're interested in finding out more, call Jessica on 020 8420 6705.
