Velodrome Bike Ride

Aspire's David Cope with ISG CyclistsThe inaugural ISG Links The Velodromes event, organised by Love Velo, saw 24 keen cyclists take on the challenge of riding from the National Cycling Centre in Manchester to the new London 2012 Velodrome in just two and a half days to raise £20,000 for Variety Club and Aspire.

David Cope, Aspire Independent Living Advisor, met the cyclists in Manchester to see them off on their epic journey. Pictured right.

Brian Carlin, Chief Executive of Aspire joined the cyclists on the last day and said,“It was great to be able to join the team for the last day and ride into the Olympic Park. The effort, energy and passion of the riders were amazing and it was fantastic to be a part of the team.  The money raised will make an enormous difference to people paralysed by spinal cord injury.”

Craig Tatton, ISG’s UK Construction Managing Director, commented “The team spirit and camaraderie of the riders throughout this amazing challenge undoubtedly spurred everyone on to complete the 233 miles and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those who gave willingly of their time to participate in this charitable adventure. The team has raised a staggering amount for two extremely worthy charities and despite the fatigue and aching muscles, I’m led to believe that planning for next year’s event is already well underway.”
