The impact of Aspire’s Services is, and always has been, immense. All them make a huge difference and massively benefit those individuals whom we work with. By using these practical, hands on experiences to identify failures in the statutory services - and more importantly to provide solutions to those problems - we can look to ensure that our work has very real benefits for each and every one of the 40,000 people in the UK with a spinal cord injury.
Lobbying Parliament and government is a vital aspect of our campaigning work, though it actually encompasses so much more; feeding our expertise and opinions into the campaigns of other organisations, advising companies who are working with disabled people and securing media and public recognition of the issues are all equally important.
The issues we tackle are many and varied. But wheelchair provision, housing and standards of care are issues that we are constantly looking at. Those with spinal cord injuries are integral to our responses – sharing their opinions through our surveys and talking to us about their concerns allows us to press home the points that matter.
