Aspire is pleased to announce that the 2015 Aspire Channel Swim has reached its target, so far raising over £454,000 and beating the previous year’s total of £425,000.  The challenge, which runs from September to December, saw 4,600 participants swimming the distance of the English Channel (22 miles) in their local pool. The biggest individual fundraiser was 11 year old Alexandra Gibbon, a pupil at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, who raised £8,652.

All sponsorship money received before the end of April will still count towards the total so it’s not too late for participants to send their fundraising in and help us reach £460,000.  Anyone who has not yet done so should email [email protected] or call 0800 037 0880 to guarantee their medal and prizes.

This year we are also offering bespoke Aspire Channel Swim 2015 towels for sale for £25, with all proceeds going to Aspire.  To purchase a towel email [email protected] or call 0800 037 0880.

Brian Carlin, CEO of Aspire, comments: “I am delighted that the Aspire Channel Swim has exceeded its target and has raised such a significant amount.  Every eight hours someone is paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury; it can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life.  The funds raised by the Swim help us to provide practical support to people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury.  The Aspire Channel Swim is our biggest challenge event and we are looking forward to expanding on its success again this year."
