Aspire is launching its third book, ‘It’s Our Lives’, at The National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

‘It’s Our Lives’ is a collection of inspiring stories from friends and family of people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury.  When someone is paralysed it is a life-changing event, not only for the person injured, but for their family and friends as well.  Whilst the patient gets all the support they need during their stay in hospital, their friends and family members are often left feeling isolated and alone, with no one to turn to.  Reading the stories in this book will remind them that they are not alone in how they are feeling and coping, and give some insight into the ways that others have managed.

‘It’s Our Lives’ is Aspire’s third book, following on from ‘It’s My Life’ and ‘It’s My Life 2’, which feature stories from spinal cord injured people, showing how they have overcome challenges and got on with their lives.  It is sponsored by Aspire Law, Spinal Cord Injury Solicitors.

Sarah Standish, Family Counsellor at The National Spinal Injuries Centre says, “This new book from Aspire will make a real difference to family and friends of people who have been injured, as their voices often go unheard which can leave them feeling isolated and alone.  I have met hundreds of family members and while everyone goes through their own experiences, the importance of family is common to them all.”

James Wood, Solicitor and Managing Director at Aspire Law who sponsored the book, says “Aspire Law is very pleased to support Aspire in their third volume of a series of books which have brought together a number of personal experiences of Spinal Cord Injury.   This latest edition gives an invaluable insight into the effect of SCI on friends and family and how this has challenged but also enriched the lives of those involved.  This invaluable record is sure to be a source of information for those involved or interested in SCI for years to come."
