Aspire President and sports broadcaster John Inverdale, is presenting an exhibition of inspirational sporting images at Getty Images Gallery in London, in aid of Aspire.

The exhibition titled 'A sporting life behind the microphone', gives a behind-the-scenes glimpse of iconic sporting moments that have significant personal resonance for John from his 35 year career as one of the nation’s favourite sporting broadcasters. 

John says, “Since I started my career with the BBC 35 years ago I have had the honour and privilege of commentating on and witnessing some of the most spectacular sporting moments.  The 50 images contained in this exhibition are my handpicked moments that have had the greatest impact on me throughout my career, not just for the astonishing achievements of some of the world’s best athletes but also for the story they tell, from world champions to sporting disasters, to amazing sporting successes, to the devastating atrocity of Hillsborough."

The exhibition will be held at the gallery from Saturday 11^th February to Saturday 18th February and John will be at the Gallery on Friday 17^th February from 10am to 12pm for a public ‘Meet and Greet’. 

“I decided to create this exhibition to raise awareness of the most brilliant charitable organisation Aspire, which obviously resonates greatly with the sporting community, be they equestrians, rugby players or boxers.  Every eight hours someone is paralysed by a spinal cord injury.  It can happen in a split second.  There is no warning and no time to prepare.  That is why Aspire, the national Spinal Cord Injury Charity exists; to provide practical services and support.  I am proud to have been involved with Aspire since 2000 and honoured to have been the President of Aspire since 2009.  This exhibition is in support of their incredible work.”
