Swimming the Channel is one of the world's toughest challenges but nothing beats that feeling of reaching France and the team camaraderie is fantastic.

Aspire has been offering relay channel swims since 2009  and will support you from sign-up and throughout your training.

Relay Channel Swim
A swim of approximately 22 miles, completed by teams of six who swim in turn for one hour each from Dover until someone reaches France in approximately 14 hours.  Timings and exact distances are governed by the weather, tides, currents etc.  The key to Channel swimming is flexibility.

What you can expect from us
Aspire takes care of all the necessary administration, including booking Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation (CS&PF) boats.  We'll arrange the teams, and will provide a suggested training plan for the winter.  Aspire organises three team training days in Dover, where you can prepare for your challenge and bond with your team.

What we expect from you

  • Attend our Assessment Day at which we select our swimmers, ensuring that everyone has a real chance of success.
  • Attend our three team training days in Dover (held in May, June and July)
  • Complete the necessary CS&PF registration forms and obtain a medical from your GP by the required deadlines.
  • Commit fully to training throughout the winter and in the lead up to the swim.
  • Be available to swim with your team when conditions are right. Although we will know the earliest you might swim, after that date you need to be free until the conditions become right.
  • Pledge to raise a minimum amount, ideally exceeding this initial target.  Every £1 raised helps Aspire to provide practical help to people paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury.
