Aspire’s open water swimming season is underway The last couple of weeks have been the most varied that Aspire has ever had in terms of open water swimming, with Team Walrus making it across the English Channel, ten swimmers tackling the Solent to reach the Isle of Wight, two teams - Team Nessie and the Plesiosaur Arms - swimming Loch Ness, six swimmers new to open water taking on the River Arun and Dan Tresman completing a solo Channel swim. These swims covered a wide range of abilities and the brave swimmers in the Solent, Loch Ness and the English Channel had particularly tough crossings. So far, their combined fundraising total stands at around £40,000 which will help Aspire support people with spinal cord injury. Andrew Ogierman, Challenge Events Manager, says, “It has truly been an amazing few days of open water swimming with 35 swimmers taking on personal challenges across four challenging swims and raising huge amounts for Aspire. With over 50 swimmers still to swim this summer it looks set to be another record breaking year. We would like to thank the volunteers and boat leaders who make it possible for us to run so many swimming events simultaneously.” Find out more about swimming with Aspire.
