Aspire has teamed up with Uswim for the first Aspire Night Uswim.  The event invites swimmers of all abilities, aged 11 or over, to choose from three wetsuit-optional distances - 750m, 1.5km or 3km - and swim in the dark in Dock 9, Salford Quays, Manchester, on 17th September.

The Swim will take place in the magically lit Dock 9 in MediaCityUK and, with swimmers lit up by glow sticks against the iconic backdrop, promises to be a truly memorable experience.   All swimmers will receive a glow stick, safety whistle, swim cap, medal and goody bag, and trophies will be awarded to the fastest male and female swimmers in all distances.  To make themselves more visible, participants are invited to wear UV body and face paint.

Karen Smith, Uswim, comments: "Uswim are excited to work with Aspire on this charity event which will give swimmers a unique swim experience. Dock 9, Salford Quays is the leading swim venue in the Northwest and offers an amazing environment against the iconic backdrop of MediaCityUK. This will undoubtedly be the night swim of the year."

Brian Carlin, Aspire’s CEO, comments: “We are delighted to be joining forces with Uswim for our first night swim in Manchester.  The Aspire Night Swimming events are proving increasingly popular and last year the 334 swimmers who took part in our three night swims raised over £11,000.  Funds raised through the variety of swimming events we offer enables Aspire to support people with Spinal Cord Injury, helping them move from injury to independence.”
