I worked at the Aspire Leisure Centre for 6½ years and always wanted to take part in the Aspire Channel Swim, but the timings didn’t work for me.

I love swimming and probably don’t swim as much as I should, but I would call myself a strong swimmer.  I enjoy swimming because it is a way of getting lost. You are in the water going at your pace doing what you are doing and you can just swim to your heart’s content.

I swim for fitness and to lose weight.  The swim is definitely helping me improve my fitness levels as 60 lengths is a lot, but swimming twice a week at the Aspire Leisure Centre I find makes each swim easier.

I don’t like asking for money but I’m really happy I have already beaten my initial fundraising goal by talking to my friends and family about it and putting it on social media.

It means a lot to me to be able to raise money to support Aspire because I have seen the impact a spinal cord injury can have on someone and how the money helps support people from injury to independence.

A huge thank you to my colleagues, friends, family and previous Aspire colleagues who have already sponsored me! I am very grateful.
