Although I haven’t experienced a spinal injury, I live with spinal degeneration in my cervical, lumbar, and sacral spine, which began at a young age. Now in my early 30s, I also manage severe lumbar lordosis and chronic pain that affects my daily function. Some days I rely on crutches or a wheelchair, as my mobility can fluctuate significantly. Despite these challenges, I’m grateful to live a relatively normal life and work full-time, thanks to the support of my family and friends.

Swimming has been a vital part of my pain management. The water supports my body, builds strength gradually, eases spasms and tightness, and helps me maintain muscle without causing excessive pain. Water temperature also plays an important role—hydrotherapy soothes my pain in warm water, while cold-water dips leave me feeling re-energised and reset. I’ve always ensured I swim safely with the right guidance and support for my health conditions.

I feel privileged to be part of this challenge, helping to promote water safety and highlight the benefits of water-based fitness for both people and dogs. I’m excited to see where this journey takes us in the coming months.

I started The Little Printing Company about six months ago as a creative outlet and way of coping with chronic pain. I design and print T-shirts, tote bags, and a variety of personalised items. I’ve created disability awareness car signs and emotion-indicator keyrings for people with communication challenges, as well as certificates, marketing materials, and start-up packs for new businesses.

As well as taking part in the Aspire Channel Swim as part of The Water Warriors, I have pledged 10% of all sales over the next 12 months to Aspire to help them support people with Spinal Cord Injury.  I ship all over the U.K, do personalised gifts for all occasions and I’ll always give a new product a go. I’ve already been able to make £20 for Aspire with my pledge.

Follow my Instagram account and if I get to 100 followers I will do a giveaway of a random item!
