On Thursday 26th April 2018, the Aspire Sports Quiz Dinner returned to Lord’s Cricket Ground, the Home of Cricket, for the first time in four years.  500 guests attended the event which included a drinks reception, three course dinner and the interactive sports quiz.  The evening was once again hosted by Aspire’s President John Inverdale and the sports quiz questions were set by Rob Nothman, and raised an incredible £115,000 to support people with Spinal Cord Injury.

The guest speaker was Sophie Elwes, who gave an inspirational talk about how she sustained her spinal cord injury and how an Aspire Grant “enabled me to purchase my own sit-ski, meaning that independence on the mountain could become a reality.”  Sophie is now hoping to qualify for the 2022 Paralympic Games in Beijing.

Celebrity guests from the sporting world included Marcus Buckland, John Gallagher, Mark Hunter, Simon Mann, Alison Mitchell, Alex Partridge and Michael Thomas and the winners of the quiz were the Fenway Park team from CMS Law.

Brian Carlin, Aspire CEO, says, “It was fantastic to be back at Lord’s Cricket Ground for our 18th annual Sports Quiz Dinner.  We would like to thank everyone who came along and supported the event.  The £115,000 raised will help Aspire support spinal cord injured people to move from injury to independence.”
