Nandini took on a skydive in memory of her husband I was looking for something to do in memory of my husband, Sital, as it was coming up to a year since he passed. I wanted to do something that was different and out of my comfort zone, so I asked my son, Aaryan, if he would do a skydive with me. Sital loved travelling and enjoyed new adventures and experiences but feared heights, so Aaryan and I thought we’d take it to the next level! Ethan, Nandini and Hari Aaryan Neither of us had done a skydive before so were a bit nervous as we arrived. Once we had registered and filled in the forms, they gave us a talk about what we should do with our legs when jumping out of the plane and as we landed back on the ground. They explained what would be happening and what not to do. I was excited but also nervous, wondering what I had got myself into! Up in the plane it was nerve-wracking watching other people jump out of the plane before us and I was worried about the landing. But once we jumped and the parachute had been pulled it was surreal, and I had a feeling of pure freedom. I had expected it to be windier than it was and am glad it wasn’t. I would definitely do it again! We were there with three other people skydiving for Aspire but unfortunately we weren’t able to go up together in the same plane. Aaryan and I went up first and did our jump but when the others went up half an hour later, unfortunately the wind had picked up and their jump was aborted. I was so glad we were able to jump as if it had been postponed I would have found it even more daunting the next time. I am delighted to have raised £932 for Aspire, where I have worked for 8 years. I asked people to sponsor me in memory of my husband because he used the facilities at the Aspire Leisure Centre and the people I’ve met here are so supportive and have become like part of the family. I am really grateful that people sponsored me again as everyone was extremely supportive last year, helping me to raise £2,730 for my Aspire Channel Swim. To anyone thinking of doing a skydive I would say do it; it was a euphoric experience. Sponsor Nandini & Aaryan How we help Manage Cookie Preferences
