The General Election campaign is well underway and today is your final chance to register to vote.  If you register after today’s deadline, you will not be able to have your say at the elections on May 7th 2015.

You can register to vote through the gov.uk website.

If you are unable to get to the polling station on 7th May and live in England, Scotland or Wales, you can register for a postal vote until 5pm on Tuesday 21st April.  The About My Vote website provides some useful information on postal votes.

Those living in England, Scotland and Wales can also apply for a proxy vote up until 5pm on Tuesday 28th April.  Unfortunately, the deadline for a postal vote and proxy vote has already passed for people in Northern Ireland.

The experts are describing this as one of the closest elections ever.  Disability Rights UK have provided a snapshot of what all the major political parties have said in their manifestos that will have an impact on disabled people.

You may find yourself canvassed by a political party in the next few weeks as we get closer to polling day.  Remember to make the most of this opportunity to talk about the issues affecting you and how the candidates would represent those views as your MP.  Aspire will be analysing what the parties are saying in their manifestos and writing about the key issues that affect spinal cord injured people in this blog once all the manifestos have been published.
