On Thursday 13th September, Aspire held a celebratory evening at the Village Hotel, Elstree, to mark its 35th anniversary.  Guests included current and past staff, key supporters, original founders and sponsors who made the evening possible.

Brian Carlin, Aspire’s CEO, welcomed all the guests and said that the 35th anniversary “is a time for reflection on what we’ve achieved and a time to be as energised as ever thinking about the next 35 years.”

Ian Bayley, one of Aspire’s founding trustees, spoke about how Aspire was originally conceived and said, “for me, this is a miracle.  It’s a wonderful thing to see what’s happened.”

Awards were presented to key supporters of Aspire, including founding trustees, Candoco founder Celeste Dandeker, Aspire’s President John Inverdale, Aspire's Sports Quiz Dinner question-setter Rob Nothman and former Chair Peter Stanford.  Staff awards were presented to our Employee and Team of the Month for August and to long-serving staff.

Brian Carlin, Aspire’s CEO, says, “I was delighted to see so many people eager to celebrate 35 years of Aspire, including staff and a variety of people who have supported us over the years.  I was proud to be able to share the achievements of Aspire in supporting spinal cord injured people over the years.  I would like to thank all of the sponsors whose support ensured that not one penny of charitable funds was used to make this special evening possible."

Thank you to our sponsors: Aspire Law, Active Assistance, Big Cat, Simon Weil at Bircham Dyson Bell, PHD Mechanical, Right Directions, Village Hotels, Virtual IT, WePlay and Wilkins Kennedy.
