Every two hours someone in the UK sustains a spinal cord injury. Friday 16th May is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day, when we join with other spinal injury charities in the UK to raise awareness about how we support the 105,000 people living in the UK with a spinal cord injury.

New data released shows that in the UK the number of people identified as having sustained or were diagnosed with having a spinal cord injury in the past 12 months has risen 7% from 4,400 to over 4,700 people.  The increase is due to a combination of factors including improved data collection and more people sustaining spinal cord injury later in life.

Please use the hashtag #SCIAD25 to join us and our partners - including SIA, Back Up, Horatio’s Garden, Regain, Spinal Injuries Scotland, Spinal Research, Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research and WheelPower - who work alongside us to support the spinal cord injury community.
