As 2018 draws to a close, we’d like to say a massive thank you to all our supporters, whether you have made a donation, are a regular giver, have attended one of our corporate dinners or taken part in a fundraising event.

Aspire receives no statutory funding and we couldn’t provide practical help to people with Spinal Cord Injury without the enormous generosity of our friends and supporters. Your amazing support makes all the difference to the work we do.

These are just some of the ways your generosity and fundraising has helped us support people with Spinal Cord Injury this year:

• Our Welfare Benefits Advice Service has advised 114 people, helping them claim over £217,000 worth of benefits they were entitled to but hadn’t been receiving.

• 48 people are currently living in our accessible houses whilst they find a permanent home.

• Our Assistive Technology staff and volunteers gave 600 sessions to patients who would like to get back online following their injury.

• Our Independent Living Advisors, who are based in Spinal Injury Centres around the country, talked to 581 newly injured people, holding 1,941 sessions with patients and their families covering subjects such as employment, health & wellbeing, housing and independence.

• Our Housing Advice team has helped 88 people tackle a wide range of housing issues, such as advice about adaptations or how to move out of their inaccessible accommodation.

Aspire Grants has given out over £77,000 worth of grants to 48 people, helping them to purchase essential equipment to enable them to move from injury to independence.
